This new QR reader is powered by Google Play Services rather than your native camera app. Go back to the Camera app and point it at the QR code. Turn on Scan QR codes if it's not already enabled.

Here's how to enable it: Tap the Settings gear. It will immediately open the camera with a dedicated QR Code box in the center to help you align the code on your screen. If your Samsung device runs Android 9 or later, the Camera app has a built-in QR scanner. Once it’s ready to be used, simply swipe down twice and tap the QR Code tile.
